Introduction
My poem is inspired by Air Raid over Harlem. It is based on the perspective of one elder female street vendor. Both poems emphasize the helplessness of the narrators and narrators are both disadvantaged groups in the society.
In China, there's a great portion of uneducated people. Many of these people cannot get employed and would put stalls by sidewalk and sell various goods. Street vending is illegal and reduce a city's beauty, yet because there are enormous street vendors, municipal officers have to tour every day to drive them away and sometimes confiscate their goods.
Last year, however, in many cities of China, officers were reported to hit street vendor regardless of his or her age and gender and also abuse their power. My poem exemplifies a monologue for an old female vendor who got hit by officers and all of her goods were confiscated.
